Best Show So Far! Million Dollar Quartet Takes the Cake

December 4, 1956. A day that went down in musical history. The day musical legends Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis met and recorded music together for the first and only time. Based on the actual event, Million Dollar Quartet does a wonderful job taking a seemingly "plotless" story and turning it into something fun with fantastic music, even making it a little dramatic. The owner of Sun Records, Sam Phillips, played by Christopher Ryan Grant, has some shenanigans in…See More

"I was reading back through my comments on your other reviews, and you are so consistently strong at incorporating details of the show into your review!  This another good example.   Your headline is a really strong thesis statement.…"

American Idiot: Life and Times of the Suburban Punk Rock Kid

Dressed to the nines in my combat boots and ratted out hair with the best "screw society!" attitude I could muster up, I was ready for American Idiot to rock my socks off. Playing at the Orpheum Theater until February 26th, the Critical View team and I were lucky enough to snag tickets for the sold out opening night. I wasn't sure at all what to expect the show to be about, but after about 10 minutes it was pretty clear; three punk kids in their adventure called life, bright eyed and bushy…See More

The Lion King

To be completely honest I've never been a huge fan of The Lion King. It had its good parts and its bad parts and was just an alright feel-good movie. So, when I heard we were going to see the Broadway production version of The Lion King, my hopes weren't very high. But, if there's one thing I want you to take away from this review it's to go and see The Lion King because I was utterly (and pleasantly) surprised.Funny, dark, musical, family friendly- it had something for everyone and anyone. Die…See More

"Great and honest, you manage to make every word count and provide opinionated descriptions.  Since the goal is 500 words, you could have one more paragraph.  What else would you write about?  What more would you like the readers to…"

"Strong work for your first review.  Great sentences, good details and clear opinions.  You could have split your main paragraph into three - one for plot synopsis, one for the performers and one for the look and feel of the show.…"

Happy 25th Les Miserables!

I cried at least seven times. For those of you, like me before, who know nothing about Les Miserables, let me enlighten you a bit. At the core of the story is Jean Valjean, a man who is just freed from serving 19 years in jail for stealing a loaf of bread. He finds God, thanks to the generosity of a bishop, and becomes a wealthy and respectable man. 8 years later he promises to take care of Cosette, the daughter of one of his now dead factory workers, Fantine, and is being hunted by Javert to be…See More
