A Rockin' Good...Nevermind, I'm not going to use a cliche title. You should see Million Dollar Quartet.
After American Idiot, I kind of started hating everything. I had a week where I blamed all my problems on the show. It was fun.
So I haven’t had my expectations high for musical theater to say the least.
But I did see my new favorite show. It’s obscure, and you’ve probably never heard of it.…

Best Show So Far! Million Dollar Quartet Takes the Cake
December 4, 1956. A day that went down in musical history. The day musical legends Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis met and recorded music together for the first and only time. Based on the actual event, Million Dollar Quartet does a wonderful job taking a seemingly "plotless" story and turning it into something fun with fantastic music, even making it a little dramatic. The owner of Sun Records, Sam Phillips, played by…

Million Dollar Memory
“In ten minutes I knew I had my next star.” Beautifully produced, Million Dollar Quartet opened Tuesday March 27 at the State Theatre. The production was highly successful at bringing the audience back to December 4, 1956 when Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee lewis, Elvis Presley and Carl Perkins got together for a “jam session” at Sun Records studio. The night that held history and fame, they played together “for…

Let’s All Go Back to the 50’s (A review of Million Dollar Quartet)
“Thank you, thank you very much.” This was exactly what I thought after seeing Million Dollar Quartet at the State Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota on March 27th. The jaw dropping eye opening production really is a must see. If you’re in the…

They slapped the set on the stage
Oh, they slapped that set on the stage
This looks like a set made with minimum wage
And my neighbor says “Jerry Lee” like he’s 10x my age
They slapped the set on the stage
Why can’t I see Jerry Lee Lewis’ face?
I said why can’t I see Jerry Lee Lewis’ face?
The staging made him seem a little outta place
Till those fingers got the piano keys in pace’
Now I get why I can’t see Jerry’s…

A Revelation in Rock and Roll; The Million Dollar Quartet
Lilly Thomey
Million Dollar Quartet
From the first few strums of that electric guitar to the very last, dramatic beats of the bass drum, my foot was tapping the whole time. This musical not only successfully explained a historic story but gave you the feel that you were at a high class concert. I loved this musical. On Tuesday, March 27th, at 7:30, I arrived at the State Theatre with no excitement towards seeing the show. I respected who these big name people were but I…

Talk-It Hennepin
Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending a Talk-It Hennepin workshop in downtown Minneapolis. I believe I was supposed to be working as a volunteer (a facilitator, as they were introduced), but I soon found myself a participator instead. Everyone was split up into different groups that discussed the future of Hennepin Avenue-a cultural hub of Minneapolis. My group focused on movement.
I walked in the room with the…
