I Poositivly Want to be Part of Their World!

Once again, Broadway has given the world another tech heavy show. Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” looks and feels as though it was pulled right off of the screen and placed onto the stage. The detailed costumes and elaborate set has provided a larger than life show that is technically stunning.

First off, the costuming…

Poor Unfortunate Set

By: Ryan Lenard

The Little Mermaid is a classic Disney tale about a mermaid named Ariel who feels misunderstood by her mersisters and father and dreams of living and experiencing human life. After rescuing a prince who fell overboard into the sea, Ariel falls in love with him. Now wishing to be with her love, Ariel makes a deal with the sea witch, Ursula, to get legs, even if it means losing her voice for good.

The actors did an amazing job of bringing the classic Disney tale to life for audiences of all ages. However, as I watched and laughed at the cheesy fish puns, I noticed some significant holes (or “bubbles,” if you will) in the plot that I couldn’t seem to get over.

Even with the…

Under the Sea

Disney’s Little Mermaid at the Orpheum Theater is just that, Disney’s Little Mermaid, a throughly enjoyable show with not too many surprises. This show being under the sea allows for many magical moments, the majority of which are executed well, but some components fall short. Beautiful vocals, dance numbers, and music that fills the whole auditorium. This show will provide a cheesy tale for anyone willing to dive in.

This tale varies from telling to telling, but the…
