Irving Berlin’s White Christmas: Fun for the Family, Outdated for Those Unfamiliar

Just in time for Thanksgiving, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas comes to Minneapolis’ Orpheum Theatre November 25th-30th. Based on the 1954 movie musical starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye, White Christmas is the story of two World War II veterans turned Broadway performers who put on a show in a struggling Vermont inn and find…

Minnesota's Worst Blizzard Could Not Bury Irving Berlin's White Christmas's Mediocrity

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is full of charming 50s style musical numbers, but overall leaves something to be desired. This show will pull you in with its full dace numbers, which have a special touch making them stand out from traditional Broadway. That being said, the plot had an uneven pace and was generally tiring. As with any big time show, White Christmas is ornately costumed, but this show needed more help than just good costumes could…

White Christmas: Fun for the Unassuming

With its glitzy red costumes and an abundance of tinsel and Christmas trees, Irving Berlin’s White Christmas at the Orpheum could seem like any other holiday show--and to a certain extent it is. I've Got "White Christmas" To Keep Me Warm

White Christmas brought electric warmth to the hearts of Minnesotans attending the show at the Orpheum.  Many people have heard this song sung by the famous Bing Crosby, but this show takes Crosby’s slow croon and adds speed, pizzazz, and a large amount energy to spice up the typical Christmas traditions.  The pure voices of this cast combine with the phenomenal dancing to create a night of pure joy.

The show follows Bob Wallace (James Clow) and Phil Davis (Jeremy Benton), two World…

White Christmas: Tis the Season

The Christmas spirit is easily shared around the season, and Tuesday night at the Orpheum was no exception. Opening night of Irwing Berlin’s White Christmas was overall fabulous, and few flaws were present. With the elaborate costumes, huge dance numbers, and even fake snow, this production does not disappoint theater-goers looking to get into the spirit of Christmas.

Looking at the impressive technical elements, from…

"Papa Needs More Laffy Taffy"

By: Ryan Lenard

As I entered the auditorium of North High School Friday night, to view their production of Grease,  I found myself very unprepared for what I was about to see. By that, I mean I had no idea what Grease was even about except for the fact that it is a very popular movie and many people around me seemed very excited to see it performed live. The story focuses on two teenage lovers; Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski, and their…
