Blue Man Group

People of all ages flowed into the Orpheum Theatre on Friday to see the show everyone has heard of but few know how to explain. Blue Man Group is a show of combined skits, rhythmic music and drumming, flashing lights and loads of audience interaction. Sitting right up front it was a bit unnerving when the blue men came out into the crowd, sometimes climbing over chairs and other times stalking down the aisles staring individuals with wide, blue-rimmed eyes. It was truly a remarkable… Continue

The Blue Man Group is an Immersive Experience -- If You're On the Main Floor

Walking into the Blue Man Group, I truly had no idea what to expect. Most shows you have at least a little idea; even if you're not familiar with the plot, you can expect a storyline and some songs -- but the little I did know about the group I had learned from a PBS Kids show when I was six or seven, so needless to say my knowledge was limited.…

Dare to see Blue Man Group!!!!

There was no point in this show when I was not smiling or laughing. Sitting in my seat, looking at the blue drummers in front of me I saw that a big part of the experience was seeing the performers reactions to each other and the audience. Someone in the house laughs and the blue heads turn towards the noise. More audience members laugh at that reaction and that sparks a domino effect. More people laugh, the blue heads turn again. This is repeated about 3 times before one of the…

Blue Man Group: The Anti-Theater

The concert-goer's show and the theater-goer’s concert, Blue Man Group has become a phenomenon from Las Vegas to Japan in the past twenty five years. It is a show that is constantly touring with many different cast and crew combinations. Known for its display of Synesthesia (mixing of the senses), hundreds flock to to the Orpheum to see the show created, written, and directed by Matt Goldman, Phil Stanton, and Chris Wink. I was among this crowd and I could not understand the over…

Let’s Get Blue

Within seconds my side hurt from laughing and judging from the roar of the audience I was not the only one having fun. The Blue Man Group, formed in 1991, is a collaborative mix of comedy, captivating percussion, and talented dance. The theater buzzed with excitement and anticipation as we anxiously awaited opening night of the Blue Man Group phenomenon Friday, December 18, 2015 at the beautiful Orpheum Theater in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. The…

Blue Man Percussionists? Comedians?

Blue Man Group is a national-touring production performing in the biggest cities at the biggest theaters. It is currently housed in the Minneapolis Orpheum Theatre running December 18-20. With an extremely talented cast and crew, it’s just not a good idea. The blue men were pristine actors and percussionists, but they only got to do a few skits. As it is almost a magic show, I wasn’t…

Blue Man Group

From Las Vegas to Berlin, to the Orpheum in Minneapolis, Blue Man Group has been a hit around the world - and with good reason. Usually, comedy routines are aimed at a certain audience, but these blue comedians are entertaining for everyone. Young, old, music lovers, and really, anyone that just wants to laugh. Confused, and Yet Loving It (A Story of The Blue Man Group)

In the days leading up to Blue Man Group, I sat there questioning what I was about to see. I had read up on the theory of the show (a mixture of comedy, music, and technology), but still had no idea how this show would be pulled off. Many people told me “I saw that when I was a kid” or “I haven’t seen them since I was little”, leaving me to expect a childish show that would leave me entertained but wanting more. This was not the case. I left the show…

A Tale of Three Painfully Awkward Blue Men

From a young age, I was taught that staring at people was rude. Since I didn’t want to be rude to others, I didn’t stare. the Blue Man Group seems to think that staring is some kind of sign that you are accepted into their group. The Blue Man Group is an interesting talent act that entails three men…

Beautifully Made for Broadway

As I walk into the theater, I first the lonely piano sitting on stage as lights to either side of me projected Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. Directed by Marc Bruni, the show had many people abuzz with anticipation over the incoming musical. Those in the audience around me began to hum songs before the show even began, and sang along as Abby Mueller belted out King’s most iconic songs. The electricity of those who grew up with Carole King soon…

Naturally Beautiful

 Beautiful Review

Out of all the shows I’ve seen in my life, “Beautiful” has to be one of my favorites. This is a fun yet sophisticated show about the life of Carole King. This show takes you through the ups and downs of Carole’s life and shows significant parts of her career. The show highlights her partnership with Gerry Goffin who was not only her business partner but also her husband. This show always kept you entertained and wanting…
